The diagram above shows the our whole yard. The top part of the yard (see below) was for the older kids on the night of the kids party and for the adults on the night of the adult part. The bottom part of the yard was dedicated to the younger haunters. We had a airblown inflatable haunted house and a small walk for the younger kids. The older kids and adult haunt (referred to as the adult haunt) is described below.

The diagram above shows the path of the adult haunt. The adult haunt theme this year was a hostel/torture theme. The concept was that the patrons were customers on an "Exotic Hunting" package. This was there preview into potential "thrills". Originally I had a tent (10 x 30) setup at the start which contained a small start room, maze complete with body bags, and the guillotine scene. However, the winds reached gusts of 50 mph and blew it down. I'll describe each scene below.

Torture scene for powerpoint presentation

Like I said above; the starting point was orginally in a large tent so I had to improvise and put it in a smaller tent. I started out with a powerpoint slide show that described "Exotic Hunting Inc." and what the patrons would expect. I used this video to setup the haunt and to announce that you shouldn't touch the props or actors. Within the slide show was the video (see right) which shows a victim being nailed to a chair. The only problem I had was it was alittle to long and since it was a small haunt we had some flow problems.

Quicksand Video

<

1. The first scare was a walk into quicksand. I saw this effect at the Little Spiders Haunt in Denver Co. Basically it's an old mattress buried in the ground with a thin layer of dirt and leaves thrown on top.

Victim video

2. The second scene was the victim from the video sitting in the middle of the path. What was nice about this scare is that so many people hesitated to move toward her. She sat silent until they reached her and then she screamed.

bucky

3. The third scene was a static scene of my corpsified bucky in a cage and a head on a stake (see 2005 props).

Stockade and Burn Scene Video

4 & 5. The fourth scene was a stockade that I built for the horrorfind weekend haunted house. My grandson crawled out from behind it to scare the patrons. Something about small kids makes people jump. The fifth scene was taken from hostel. Basically I made a fake blowtorch by adding leds to a real tourch and had someone burning a victims face. My daughter provided the makeup for the victim.

Wrong Way Video

6 & 7. The sixth scene was nothing more than a person in a camouflage jacket with hood. They couldn't be seen in the dark. The seventh scene was a great setup. For years I've had the patrons go behind the pool shed. This year I had an actor hold up the caution tape so that it looked like they had to make a left turn. When they got close; out popped the actor and yelled "wrong way".

Guillotine Video

8. The eighth and final scene was my guillotine which I made for the horrorfind weekend haunt. My daughter once again played the victim beautifully with her head looking as if it gets chopped off.
